this are my oversimplified notes for my friends to be able to classpect themselves and not cry because of all the convoluted bulldookie that goes into figuring out your classpect. im calling it notes instead of a guide because this isnt all my writing.g
ok what is a classpect
the characters in homestuck play a game called sburb and classpects (class + aspect) are the role of someone in the game. like for example knight of time or witch of space. they determine the type of powers the player will have when they go godtier based on the persons upbringing before playing sburb and itll give them like a personal character development quest to do
how do i do this breh
i usually classpect by finding aspect first then class because class talks about the players relationship with their aspect. a lot of this stuff is vague because class and aspect go hand in hand you cant really have one without the other. you can find your lunar sway first or last it doesnt matter. DONT classpect yourself based on what you want to be, but base it on what you already are. you might need to be really mean to yourself
is this a good resource
in my opinion prolly not. i have a horrible memory and i bluntly paraphrase my sources and i probably should be citing the actual comic but andrew hussie is a gatekeeping son of a GUN and the entire damn comic is so long i cant look through all that. i havent even been a homestuck fan for a very long time. but classpecting is bullshit anyways. how the fuck do you nothing so hard you end up something-ing. this system is fucked up man.... FUCKED up...
where i took notes from:

lunar sway first because i want to get this out of the way: there are only two lunar sways (prospit and derse). classpects may lean towards one lunar sway but thats kinda it i think. most people believe that the simplest way to determine lunar sway is to go off pessimism/optimism but i think thats way too bare bones and probably not even accurate. the descriptions are gonna be in big blocks of text instead of traits and im sorry but i cant rewrite this shit when i already pretty much got it down
prospit: prospit dreamers are trusting, easygoing, and a bit indecisive. they rarely have any problems with who they are, and if they did they would suck at trying to hide themselves. when they have to make decisions theyre better at seeing multiple outcomes and they tend to trust their gut and act right away without premeditation. this is like pretty great when time is limited but that means their anger/negative emotions can get the best of them. they could act impulsively and later regret their decisions because it was stupid. when it comes to fate, they would probably try to figure out win-win solutions and adapt to change. because of their flexibility they would feel more comfortable following rules.
derse: derse dreamers on the other hand are a lot more skeptical and reserved. it takes time for them to open up to people, and themselves. like they kinda hate themselves and they try to hide it instead of coming to terms with their identity. they plan before they take action, thinking about the past and the future more than the present moment, and using logic rather than feelings to make decisions. theyre also less likely to figure out multiple solutions to a problem. if a derse dreamers fate (or ANYTHING) is unfavorable (which i guess is mostly the case) they wouldnt stand for it and having to go with it would make them feel uncomfortable.

aspects: aspects are essentially elements that also define character traits of a person. and also theyre “the building blocks of paradox space”. there are 12 of them and they come in opposite pairs. when im listing stuff, the traits go from positive to neutral to negative so maybe not all of them apply to you currently because youre not down in the dumps all the time and its ok. i forgive you. a lot of associations/traits contradict or overlap each other as well and i think that has to do with classes
commonly associated with: creation, art and/or fashion (not every artist is a space player! take dirk as an example), conception, femininity(probably debatable), possibility, frogs
powers/roles: universe creation, space travel, changing the size of stuff, pretty much anything thats physics related
personality traits: creative to an insane degree, unbiased, patient, steady, more concerned with the overall view, enjoys the journey more than the destination. detached, vague
additional notes: space players can be focused on details but its probably more of a “it needs to look good” thing instead of a “i need to get this right” thing. they are also one of the most important if not the most important aspect and if there is no space player in the sburb session you lowkey might be doomed forever
commonly associated with: destruction/death(the end of life), masculinity(also debatable), music, repetition, progression, memories(???), mechanics
powers/roles: initiating the scratch(timeline jumble-and-redo), time travel, time control (like changing the speed of time or completely stopping it), creating time loops, you can have multiple versions of yourself from different timelines come to your current timeline called a time clone i think idfk how that works yet, changing the speed of stuff
personality traits: empathetic, good problem solvers, always moving/active, cares about the destination more than the journey, defensive, detail-oriented, dismissive/denying, impulsive
additional notes: the strugglerrrrrssss. time players can get stuck in loops not understanding why. also theyre also like the most important dude in a sburb session and if you have neither space nor time you are DEFINITELY doomed forever
